Paris, Ky. — Goodwill Industries of Kentucky will open its newest donation and retail center in Paris on Monday, January 31. A grand opening celebration will likely be scheduled for late winter or early spring.
Located at 118 Matlack Street, the new center is already accepting donations from the public to stock the store.
“We are really happy to bring Goodwill to Paris,” said Erin Gold, Vice President of the Bluegrass Division for Goodwill Industries of Kentucky. “The people here have shown a lot of excitement for us and our mission, and their donations will help us continue providing employment and job training to Kentuckians with disabilities or other disadvantages.”
Revenue from donated clothing and other household items allows Goodwill to fund employment, job training, and adult literacy programs throughout Kentucky. Goodwill is also an affordable alternative to traditional retail stores. For only $29, a shopper can outfit a family of four (two adults and two children) with shirts, pants, and shoes.
Paris’ Goodwill is approximately 14,000 square feet and created 12 new jobs. In accordance with Goodwill’s mission, there was an emphasis on hiring people with disabilities or other disadvantages. Each Goodwill center employs an average of 8-12 people.
Beginning January 31, regular business hours for donating and shopping will be 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.
