6/6/2011 – Grand opening set for relocated Hopkinsville Goodwill®

Hopkinsville, Ky. — Goodwill Industries of Kentucky will hold a grand opening of its relocated donation and retail center in Hopkinsville on Thursday, June 9, featuring a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Special gifts will be available to the first 100 donors and 200 shoppers that day, and refreshments will be offered from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

“We are really happy to give Hopkinsville residents the Goodwill they deserve,” said John Wade, vice president of the Western Division for Goodwill Industries of Kentucky. “Ever since we opened here in 1995, Hopkinsville has shown a lot of excitement for us and our mission. This new center is a reflection of their generosity.”

Hopkinsville’s Goodwill is now approximately 14,000 square feet, more than twice the size of the former facility. The larger center allowed Goodwill to add six new jobs to its 10-person staff, and in accordance with Goodwill’s mission, there was an emphasis on hiring people with disabilities or other disadvantages.
“We’re so grateful for Hopkinsville’s support,” said Wade. “Thanks to our donors and shoppers, Goodwill can continue providing critical job training and preparation for Kentuckians facing barriers to employment.”

Revenue from donated clothing and household items allows Goodwill to fund employment counseling, job training, and adult literacy programs throughout Kentucky. Goodwill is also an affordable alternative to traditional retail stores. For only $29, a shopper can outfit a family of four (two adults and two children) with shirts, pants, and shoes.

The new Goodwill center is located at 2624 Fort Campbell Boulevard. Regular business hours for donating and shopping are 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.
