Lawrenceburg, Ky. — The Goodwill donation and retail center in Lawrenceburg will celebrate its donors and shoppers by holding an appreciation event on Friday, June 29. From 9 a.m.–2 p.m., donors and shoppers will receive refreshments and giveaways to thank them for their support of Goodwill and its mission. Frankfort-based radio station Froggy 104.9—including Mister Froggy himself—will broadcast live from the Lawrenceburg Goodwill from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
“We’re happy to be a part of the Lawrenceburg community,” said Brenda Bolin, Goodwill center manager. “We want to take this day to thank our donors and shoppers for their support. Because of them, Goodwill is able to provide job training and employment counseling for Kentuckians across the state.”
The Lawrenceburg location opened in May 2004. More recently, Goodwill opened new locations in Columbia and Barbourville in the last two years and two additional locations are scheduled to open this summer in Louisville and Elizabethtown. Each of Goodwill’s 60 donation and retail centers in Kentucky create 8-12 jobs for people with disabilities or other disadvantages in local communities.Kentucky’s Goodwill is among those with the most donation and retail centers inNorth America.
“Goodwill’s employment services are more relevant than ever,” said Erin Gold, vice president of the Bluegrass Division for Goodwill Industries of Kentucky. “Donations of gently-used goods are the lifeblood of our organization. With ongoing support from the people of Lawrenceburg and the surrounding area, Goodwill can continue to be a longstanding and stable contributor to Kentucky’s employment services.”
In its 2011 fiscal year, Goodwill placed Kentuckians into 2,584 jobs and paid more than $16 million in wages to people with disabilities or other disadvantages. Goodwill also provided more than 13,000 services and referrals for people seeking employment support.
Located at 1240 Anderson Crossing Drive in Lawrenceburg, Goodwill is open for donating and shopping Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m., and and Sunday, noon–6 p.m.
