To help people with disabilities or other disadvantages achieve and maintain employment to gain a better quality of life.
Goodwill provides jobs, training, and counseling for people with disabilities or other disadvantages, including welfare recipients and low-wage workers. Goodwill collects and sells donated items to provide employment and training for these individuals and fund the expansion of our services as well as literacy and counseling programs. Approximately 10% of our revenue goes toward administration.
Goodwill improves communities. With the support of Goodwill, many men and women change their lives for the better.
Goodwill’s mission is carried out through a variety of programs and services all with one goal—helping people with disabilities or other disadvantages become more successful, productive, and independent. Some of the programs operated by Goodwill include job placement services, skills evaluations, an adult education center, and employment for people with disabilities or other disadvantages.
Goodwill donation and retail centers make every effort to provide job opportunities and training to people with disabilities. With Goodwill centers in 56 locations throughout Kentucky, local communities benefit from our services in many ways. Each Goodwill store:
- Creates 8-12 new jobs
- Provides meaningful job skills to employees
- Offers clothes and other household goods at low prices
- Reduces the volume of local landfills
- Generates local taxpayer dollars
- Moves Kentuckians off welfare
