Vocational Evaluation
Goodwill’s Vocational Evaluation helps individuals identify vocational strengths and weaknesses through test materials or hands-on work.
A trained vocational evaluator aids individuals in developing an assessment plan. The plan is based on interviews, vocational tests, review of past jobs, simulated work activities, and medical or psychological reports.
The data is then used by the evaluator, individual, and referral source to identify appropriate career options. The evaluator recommends courses of action to help individuals achieve their vocational goals.
Since Goodwill has a mobile evaluation team, vocational assessments can be arranged throughout various locations in Goodwill’s service area.

Adult Education
The Alice H. James Adult Learning Center is designed to help people increase their academic skills to gain employment. Many people also use their increased skill level to earn their GED, advance in their job, or attend college or other training programs.
Goodwill’s Adult Learning Center offers one-on-one tutoring from trained community volunteers and certified teachers. Individuals meet with a volunteer tutor on a regular basis to discuss and set specific goals in literacy, math, or other subjects in which better skills are needed.
This program is available in Louisville at 909 E. Broadway. Call (502) 585-5221 for more information.

Community Employment
Goodwill’s Community Employment program is designed to help people achieve their goals through employment within the community or at one of Goodwill’s locations.
A Goodwill community employment specialist and the participant meet one-on-one to create a personal career development plan. The plan is then monitored through regular meetings. At the meetings, the participant and the employment specialist discuss ways to improve as well as issues or behaviors that affect job performance and goals.
If needed, on-the-job coaching and counseling can be provided at the job site for additional support.
