Donating your vehicle to Goodwill is simple and takes about 10 minutes. If you are unable to drive the vehicle to our office for any reason, we can arrange to have the vehicle towed at no cost to you after the donation process is complete. We tow in Louisville and close surrounding counties. To donate, gather the items and information below:

• Certificate of title - free and clear of visible liens
• Current registration - showing all taxes paid up to date
• License plate - removed from the vehicle and brought into the office
• Keys - if available (donations without keys accepted)
• Odometer reading - accurate reading, not an estimate

Note: The title must reside in the donor’s name. If the title is two party, then both parties must be present for the donation unless "or" is used in reference to the owners.

The office address for Louisville vehicle donations is 909 E. Broadway, Louisville, KY 40204. Hours of operation are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. No appointment is necessary if donating at this office. However, if it is more convenient for you to donate at a Goodwill center closer to your home or office, you may call (502) 583-CARS to schedule an appointment between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

After the vehicle is sold at Goodwill’s auto auction (held every 6-8 weeks), Goodwill provides you with all necessary documents to receive your tax deduction (letter of acknowledgement, Form 1098c). Donors are allowed to deduct the amount for which the vehicle was sold with the minimum deduction being $500, in line with IRS standards. Vehicles used within the organization's programs will entitle the donor to a write-off of the fair market value.

Each donated vehicle channels money into helping Goodwill provide jobs, job training, and employment counseling to people with disabilities or other disadvantages.
