Goodwill accepts clothing and accessories, household items, furniture, small appliances, toys, books, music, shoes, and even vehicles.
DO:
- Give to charities you know and trust. Note that fraudulent charities often modify the names of established groups. Avoid giving to organizations that ask for your credit card number over the telephone or request payment in cash.
- Whenever possible, leave donations at sites when attendants are on duty. Donations dropped off outside of business hours encourage theft.
DON’T:
- Donate broken or soiled items, large appliances, chemicals, propane tanks, tires, computer equipment, or televisions.
- Donate items that have been recalled, banned, or don’t meet current safety standards. For more information, visit the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
- Leave items unattended outside a donation center.
Due to safety reasons and cost, Goodwill cannot accept large appliances such as refrigerators or stoves, tires, butane or propane tanks, paint or other hazardous chemicals.
