  How Donations Help

Since 1923, Goodwill has been collecting and reselling goods in Kentucky to fund our job training, employment counseling, and adult education services. Each year, our programs benefit thousands of Kentuckians with disabilities or other disadvantages. Here’s how your donations help:

  • You donate to Goodwill—things like clothes, small appliances, furniture, or cars.
  • Your donations are processed for resale by Goodwill employees, many of whom have disabilities or other disadvantages.
  • Your donation is resold in a Goodwill store. Our stores provide jobs and career training to people with disabilities or other disadvantages.

Photo of Customer DonatingIf an item is broken, torn, or stained, the item is put in a bale, sold at a bulk rate, and sent for recycling. Goodwill makes the most of every donation.

Goodwill store revenues support community-based workforce development programs. Approximately 89% of Goodwill revenues are spent directly on programs that help people find and keep stable jobs.

With Goodwill’s help, Kentucky communities prosper. People once relying on government assistance (taxpayer dollars) become taxpayers themselves and contribute to the economic vitality of their communities.
