LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Goodwill Industries of Kentucky is pleased to announce it will reopen its centers for education and employment to in-person traffic on Monday, June 15, under limited hours and strict health and safety guidelines.

Despite the obstacles created by the COVID-19 pandemic, Goodwill provided virtual career services opportunities to program participants and continued to place individuals into reliable employment. The nonprofit has implemented social distancing and building capacity guidelines, in addition to other precautions, in order to reopen its physical locations to the public.

The centers for education and employment – located in Louisville, Lexington, Bowling Green, Somerset and Pikeville – will operate from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will follow social distancing and building capacity guidelines, in accordance with local ordinance, therefore appointments are encouraged. In addition, if participants intend to remain in the building for an extended period, temperatures will be checked upon entrance, and a short health screening will be conducted. Face masks will be provided if needed. Virtual career services continue to be an option for those interested.

In 2019, our centers for education and employment assisted 3,496 job seekers with preparation services and awarded Work Ready Certificates to 3,261 individuals through Goodwill Works. Individuals placed in full-time jobs, with Goodwill or elsewhere, earned an average wage of $11.70 per hour last year, and Goodwill employees with disabilities or other barriers earned $10,485,232 in total wages.
