In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we at Goodwill Industries of Kentucky made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s The Art of Goodwill Residency Program and auction event, our signature fundraiser.

In lieu of the cancellation, though, we’re giving Kentucky artists a different kind of opportunity – this time to create an inspiring mural on the northeast side of our Louisville retail and resource center at 907 E. Broadway.

The Art of Goodwill highlights our mission of transforming lives, and this opportunity will do the same, as the mural is expected to serve as an interpretation of all the programs and workforce services Goodwill offers, which, most notably, include reintegration and reentry services, job-readiness training, career coaching, and expungement services.

The mural will cover roughly 60 feet by 17 feet. Artists can submit proposals, which should include a narrative and rough design illustrating the concept, in addition to references, samples of previous work and a cost estimate, online here and can visit theartofgoodwill.org for more information. The deadline for submissions has been extended to November 16, and the selected artist or group of artists will be notified by the end of the month.

Goodwill Vice President of External Affairs DeVone Holt and Community Engagement Coordinator Ben Haydon were featured in recent WAVE and WHAS segments, respectively, discussing this unique opportunity, which are available for viewing below:
