Goodwill Industries of Kentucky is collaborating with the University of Kentucky in a campus-wide initiative to divert reusable items and perishable food from landfills. The goal of the recycling program is to encourage students to donate rather than throw out usable items, and assist with the institution’s overall sustainability plan.

Beginning Nov. 22 through the holiday break, Give and Go Donation Stations will be placed in residence halls all over campus, urging students to drop off the items they wish to donate. Items collected can vary from clothes, shoes, bedding, un-used toiletries, furniture and décor to nonperishable food. Nonfood items will be donated to Goodwill to assist with fulfilling the company’s mission to lift people with disabilities or other disadvantages out of poverty, helping them achieve and maintain employment to gain a better quality of life.
