Latoya endured a difficult divorce in 2014. A single mother of three children, she struggled for years as a result of that hardship. In 2018, she realized it was time for a career shift. A friend informed her of an open cashier position with our Paducah team.

She applied and was hired. Less than two years later, Latoya has earned two promotions and now works as an assistant manager.

Latoya works with her Goodwill career coach, Margie, on personal and professional issues such as housing, budgeting, benefits and job skills. She has recently transitioned from income-based housing to a home of her own.

Margie said, “Latoya has been a joy to coach. Working with her is very fulfilling. She takes an active role in her development, and that is why she was able to move up so fast. She can take advice and knock down barriers.”

To that, Latoya added, “I tried so hard for so long to get help and I couldn’t, but Goodwill stepped up. I am proud of my achievements. Goodwill offers so many opportunities, and I would love to continue to advance here. I don’t really have any family, but Goodwill has become my family. For me to be where I am today is a blessing. I thank God each day.”
